Okay, so I just performed a format/re-install of windows xp pro with sp2.
Now, stupid me, I forgot to remove my video card (radeon 9800 series) from the system at the time of re-install, and now my computer thinks it is the default video card, as well as it's detecting the monitor plugged in (LG FLATRON) as a default monitor, and I can't install the driver for that either. . I know I have an S3 ProSavage DDR 32mb onboard video, and my mobo is the u8668d from Biostar. My system itself is a tagar.
Anyway, I've downloaded the ATI Catalyst Controller, but it doesn't even detect that I have one of their cards installed. When I try to use my onboard video, there is no output at all. I've downloaded the driver for the onboard, but it will not let me install it (Check the progress log in your windows directory for more details it what it spits out for the reason.)
My question is this: Is there any way I will be able to recover my system without another format? And if not that's fine, but how am I supposed to format my machine if there is no output from my onboard video?
I should also add that this does hinder my abilities to browse the computer, as everything moving is rather laggy.
I've removed the controller from the device manager, as well as reseated the AGP Video card.
I do not have the recovery cd.
Oh, and my ram is one 256 stick and one 512.
Thanks,
Brandon
