    I think that 'system' file is continually changing so I doubt if you can just grab it from your Windows disk.

    Take note of the times they say not to use the 'r' key and not to press enter to boot from the cd.
    Hint: Take your time going through the initial menu stage of the site.

    Thanks for the quick reply.  I actually found a previous thread that described how to copy the missing file off of the original XP CD.  It is working again with apparently no lost data.  Concerned as to why it happened in the first place.  Five years without a hitch till now.
