My computer keeps hanging! Please help :(
« on: November 01, 2006, 07:26:47 AM »
Hi,

I got this problem with my computer recently that I'm not sure about
its cause, but was hoping that maybe someone here could help me with.

The computer keeps hanging at random occasions, so it's very difficult to
pin-point the exact circumstances and thus the reason for why it hangs. It
doesn't seem as it's related to any particular operations nor for how long
I've been using the computer.

One time it hanged right with the login in screen in Windows XP, another time
when I had been running mIRC for a while and a last time when I was
just surfing web pages.

Motherboard: VIA Technologies P4X400-8325
CPU:  Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz
RAM: 1024MB RAM
OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
GFX: ALL-IN-WONDER 9800 SERIES
Harddrives: 2
CD-ROMs: 2

Took my computer to check, the technician changed one 512mb ram but not working :( Reinstalled windows still not working :(
Please help... and thanks for reading...

I hope this tech is not charging you for things that do not work.

Have a read and see if any of this is helpful:

Do what your father recommends.  Also have them check (try another one in it's place) & replace the power supply if found defective
