Animated objects do not appear on screen
« on: November 02, 2006, 01:41:36 PM »
Hi,
Can anyone point me in the right direction? If I visit a webpage that has animated object on it, the objects either remain stationary or do not appear at all. I thought it may be a Java problem so downloaded Java but it has made no difference.

I'm using XP home edition.

Thanks, Terry

What browser are you using?
And what animated objects are you talking about?  GUFs, Flash animations, Java, or what?

Hi Calum. I am using internet explorer 6 SP2. I don't seem to be able to see animated GIF or JPEG files. The GIF image is visble but not animated.

Check this.  Go to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, scroll down to the Multimedia section and check the box for "Play animation in webpages".  You may need to close IE and then re-open it.

Reply #13 in http://www.computerhope.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1162177857;start=all has an animated GIF.  Do you see any motion?

Oh, I'll just put one right here:

Tanks for that info. It would seem that I have a zone alarm problem. I have been on their support forum and it appears that zone alarm affects people differently as I now see your animated object in last post but not all objects.

I publish 2 websites one is www.babit.co.uk which has two dancers on the banner but they are stationary for me and www.c4gs.co.uk which has a (dentfix) jpeg on the 'Links' page which I cannot see.

Incedently, I now see the animated smileys on the post reply page which were all still before. So I am on the right tracks but am thinking of ditching Zone Alarms for some other application.

The dancers don't dance for me but can I see the dentfix thing, there's nothing wrong with my computer.
    Perhaps your dancers are tired?
