5 Broken Computers...
« on: November 03, 2006, 04:15:29 PM »
Im just getting started repairing computers and I got 5 broken computers today. Upon turning them on, they simply beep a few times. I opened up the cases and noticed they dont have any RAM that I can see. These are old computers, but I still want to build them back up (for sport).

Im new and was just wondering if this sounds alright. I plan to figure out what motherboard they have, get the proper RAM (we have tons lying around in the shop), and then put some RAM in and give it a go. Only question I have is this: how do I locate the motherboard model, and then figure out what RAM to put in? Also, does this plan seem fine?

Thanks

Welcome to computerhope JKeener319.

We can all have fun with this if you'd like. :-?

Well,A good start would be to ID the Manufacturer and Model number
of one of them and go to the manufacturers website and download
the manual if available.<----------Sorry about the long sentence. ;D

If you need to... Post the Brand name and model number of each computer
and us fools here will gladly help you.

OH NO!    SNAP! Okay I'm ready again. :-? ;D ;D ;D

The board probably has the model number and the revision imprinted on it somewhere. If we do this as a collective thing, though, let's do them one at a time. Pick one, and let's go.

That "pick one and let's go" comment. You knew the trouble I was trying to muster up.

Five different models at one time would be a Hoot though. ;D

Good on you Mark! ;D -------------------------------> SNAP!

JKeener319......... LOL ......... Doing some more dumpster diving ?
If it's broken........ Do you have any idea what the issue is other than it doesnt work?
Please provide the brand name and model number .........
BTW ........ rather than posting a printer issue in "other" it might be a better idea to post in the "hardware" section or if it's a driver issue ...in the "driver" section .

If you don't know the answer, it isn't a dumb question.
