thanks for responding ^__^ i did the uninstall within about 10 minutes of "upgrading" to ie7. i just downloaded ie6 via the link you gave me, and it tells me that my current version (6) is newer than the setup program, so it won't re-install. grr!

Are you sure it does not say the version you are trying to install is older than the one installed? If so, please make sure you follow the instructions in the other link i provided to completely uninstall IE 7 before you try to install IE 6.

may i get a link to there, please? ^__^ i'm assuming you don't mean windows update, because i did that.

The address for the Windows Update Web site is: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ (do not type www at the beginning this address).

i followed your directions exactly. ie7 is now uninstalled. i tried re-installing ie6 from the link you gave me, and i get this message: "Setup has detected a newer version of Internet Explorer already installed on your system. Setup cannot continue."

What the heck, I suggest you also get CCleaner and run it.  Might be worth the time.  If you're new to CCleaner, you might benefit from reading this: http://www.computerhope.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1163474757/0

Have you thought about formatting your hard drive and doing a fresh installation of Windows to resolve this?

You've been at this almost two weeks now. The Soybean solution would take a few hours.  ::)
