Can Someone Please help me Outlook Express
« on: November 04, 2006, 12:07:33 PM »
I have a Gatewaqy that I bought about3 months ago and it had Outlook Express preinstalled.  My isp is Wow high Speed internet.  All of a sudden over the last couple of days i stopped receiving e-mails.  When I checked Wow webmail page i noticed that the emails I was receiving were being stored in the server and not transferring to my Outlook Express.  Does anyone have any idea what may be casuing this?  Does anyone know how I might fix this problem.  I would appreciate any help you could provide.  Thank you.

Contact your ISP and explain your situation. They will advise.

I contacted them, they told me to contact Microsoft.  Microsoft said to check with Gateway.  Gateway told me I needed to check with Microsoft.

It may be that there is one particular email that OE is having problems downloading - with a large attachment, or with invalid content.  You should be able to check that through the web interface.
Only able to visit the forums sporadically, sorry.

Thanks.  There's not a big file.  I've deleted everything from the webmail and the outlook express.  I don't know what it could possibly be.

What about a system restore to a point before all of this started?

Have you reviewed your email account settings in OE?  Does Wow high Speed internet have any support info for POP mail on their site?  I took a look and did not see anything.  Might be time to find another ISP.  Even the small ISP (serves about 8 counties in Ohio) my mother uses has this: Outlook Express Setup.

If you are still reading this you might check out Thunderbird. I got it some time ago and haven't looked at Outlook Express since. You might like Firefox as a brouser too.

Thanks to everybody for the suggestions.  I did what you suggested and it worked.  Oddly, when i set up my email account i set it up exactly as it already was but it started to work again.  I wonder why that happened.  Anyway, again, thanks to all who responded.
