Re-enter the BIOS and put the boot order to CDRom; Floppy; and HDD.
F10 to save settings and exit.

The BIOS can be a dangerous place to play around in...

Once you get it fixed, you must promise "I will not play with my BIOS".  ::)

Have you tried what i suggested above ? ?

I'm relatively sure this is exactly what the Gateway people are gonna tell you to do.

I can't remember, but i'm pretty certain that is the order it is in. I know for sure that the cd-rom is the first in priority.

If it is in that order what else could be the problem?

Bad CDROM drive, bad disk, other changes you made to BIOS but may not be aware of.....

it might just be the disk because when i turn my computer on with the disk in the cd drive it makes noises like its spinning but fails to boot. however, the disk isn't too dirty or scratched and i burned the iso at a slow speed so that it would burn it correctly. I even tried a disk repair machine and it still didn't work.

Do you have another bootable CD you can try?  If not, try the diagnostic software on the CD that came with your computer or diagnostic firmware in the BIOS.  If there are no diagnostic tools, try using a CD-ROM drive cleaning kit or replacing the optical drive with a known good one.

Unless done properly a burned ISO is normally not bootable...
What program did you use ? ?

I burned two, one for a linux distribution (can't remember the name of it), and one for an operating system called freedos (just like good old dos). I downloaded the bootdisk isos and burned them, they are supposed to boot now (it says on the webpage), maybe i'm forgetting something...

I don't have any other bootable cds to try.

Try this with a borrowed Official MS Windows CD...

I still think the ISO's weren't created properly but that's just me.
