Occasional Freezes
« on: November 15, 2006, 11:53:07 AM »
I recently bought a new HDD 300 GB Maxtor. Installed it and installed winxp professional.. I use some graphics programs, e.g. Corel Draw, Photoshop, etc. Everything is fine, but every now and then, it will stop responding. I can click away on all the icons, but it won't do anything.. and then maybe after a minute or 2 it will start responding. There's no particular pattern to it, nor there is any particular program responsible. I have 1GB RAM, there's another physical HDD present (my old HDD), one CD-RW and one DVD-RW. It's Pentium 3.8 GHz clone pc. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I would run Maxtor's drive diagnostics on that HDD...available at their site.

And post problems only once someone is usually along shortly...

YES, guilty as charged, but there's a reason for this. You see I am not sure whether this problem is hardware related or OS related so I posted in both the forums. Sorry if it caused any harm! Thanks for the replies.

In the future, just take your best guess as to which section best fits your question and go ahead and post there.  If a moderator feels it belongs in another section, they can move it.
