can't get printer to print wirelessly
« on: November 20, 2006, 11:51:24 PM »
HI,
I just bought a HP5080 and have it up and running on my desktop upstairs. I have spent the last several hours trying to get it to do the same wirelessly from my laptop down stairs with no happiness. I have set up a Linksys WRT54G router conected to the printer via an Eathernet cable to one of the outputs on the router.  My desktop shows that it is talking to the router just fine and the computer seems to have found the printer as it went through the installation okay. I checked the printer on the laptop and it says it is on and ready. I have shutdown and restarted several times as sometimes that works.

I am using a Compaq Presario LT and it has XP home addition.

Is there a IP address for the printer. Oh, by the way, I am not using a network as all I want is to be able to send print jobs directly to the printer without going thru the desktop computer which prints nicely thru its USB connection.

Any ideas as to what I am overlooking will be greatly appreciated.
