System Restore - "Cannot be restored to..."
    « on: November 22, 2006, 09:36:23 PM »
    Hello.

I have been unable to do a system restore for several months and would like to know if you had any suggestions.

I have done defrags, cleanings, and safe mode virus scans. Unfortunately, it still will not work.

When I called for assistance (from warranty support), I was told that - "Sometimes it just stops working."

    Is that true?

    Thanks - Kimberli

    Computer info:
    Microsoft Windows XP
Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 2
Compaq Presario, Intel Pentium 4, CPU 3.06 GHz, 504 MB of RAM

System Restore is not very reliable and your problem is common.

Apparently the most reliable System Restore points are those made by the pc user, the automatic System Restore points being almost useless in some cases.

Unfortunately we don't appreciate this until we need to do a System Restore which then won't work.  Not found anyone with a workaround for the failure.

    Good luck

      Thank you.

I'll start making my own to see if that works.

      Thanks again.

      Sincerely - Kimberli

        Thanks.

I'll probably have to check into buying a CD as well.

        Sincerely - Kimberli

This seems to be the original post.  Is it not?  Just curious.

                Hello!

W2K was mentioned in a reply to my question. However, the post was modified after Patio's statement that Win2K was an operating system.

                Thanks - Kimberli
