power light indicator was still on
    « on: November 30, 2006, 03:23:29 AM »
    Hi everyone,

I found something interesting about my USB Flash Drive and USB HDD:
I have a USB Flash Drive (128MB) and a USB HDD (80GB), and to unplug them from my
PC, I choose "Safe Remove" by right click the hardware icon on the Taskbar.
I found that the power light indicator of the USB Flash Drive was immediately off after it was
said to be safe to remove;  but that of the USB HDD was still on even if I waited for a few minutes afterwards.

    Any ideas?

Go by the indicator within Windows to assure proper shutdown. It may be receiving power, but not actively able to access files. That's the way my Western Digital does.

The icon in the system tray (lower right hand corner) to safely stop USB devices ("Unplug or Eject Hardware")
