    got error while running CHKDSK
    « on: December 07, 2006, 05:41:24 PM »
    Hi,

I have a problem with my laptop. I'm getting the following error when running chkdsk on the DOS command.

"Error found. CHKDSK cannot continue in read-only mode".

This happen after i manually shut it down by pressing on the power button while the windows still trying to close the network connection.

I think some memory might have been corrupted.

I run windows XP Pro on this machine. Is there a way of fixing this up again?

    Thank you in advance

Have you tried without running it from a Command Prompt ? ?

To do so open My Computer , select the drive by right clicking it and choose properties...

Go to Tools and choose and select "error checking"

You need to select automatically fix errors. If this is a system partition, then you will probably be asked to restart for a boot-time scan, so that the partition can be "locked".
