Help with user account on Windows XP
« on: December 11, 2006, 09:00:52 AM »
There are 3 user accounts on our computer, when  one user deletes an icon from their desktop it deletes it from all users desktops, it only started doing this when we reformatted the hard drive. any help on how to fix this problem. would be greatly appreciated.

Out of the three accounts...change them through Control Panel/User Accounts and only allow one as the Adminstrator.  Set the others to limited account status.

If you don't...you'll find yourself missing a lot more than a desktop shortcut.

Good luck!

Saviour has a  good point but I dont think this is your prob. If I remember correctly there is a setting that "Allow User's to change Desktop" has to be checked... Its been a long time since I used multiple accounts so I cant put my finger on it exactly... I am almost positive there is some setting somewhere....
