Possibly OT - strange phone thing
« on: December 14, 2006, 01:15:22 PM »
Sorry for the unhelpful title but I don't know how to describe it.
I was sitting here typing up a post when my phone's external screen lit up blue like I had a call or message (I have a Motorola E550 on T-Mobile).
The text displayed wasn't "incoming call" or "new message", but "Note:"
That's it.
So I opened the phone, and it said "Update successful".
Just an average screen, then an OK button.
I pressed OK, and everything's normal.
I don't know what all the version numbers etc under phone status were before so I don't know if anything's changed, it doesn't look like it.
If this was a PC, I'd suspect a virus.
But it's not, and there are no mobile phone viruses and no way of transferring them as my BT is off.
Everyone else I know with a Motorola is unaffected, no messages or anything.
It's not used up any credit or anything.
Anyone else seeing the same thing?
Or is my phone just being weird?

Okay, you're not going to believe this but that update just, like, overclocked my phone!
It's gone turbo!
It takes half the time to turn on and everything's faster, how strange is that?

patio . . . just for once that made no sense to me, normally your posts are (almost) intelligible lol.
However, my phone is now back to its normal speed and the signal is more unreliable than before . . . disappointing.

    A weired problem.
Anyway you think you got problems, my phones screwed, a Sony Erricsson W810i. I got it a while back and it developed this problem of turning it self off  if you tapped it. Even if i walked down the stairs it would shut it self down becase it knocked against my leg in my pocket. I sent it off and its come back worse then it was, ive lost all 400 contacts in my phone book, the camera dies on me every now and then and the MP3 player screws up :(
Apart for that it's a great phone!!

Oh man, that doesn't sound good.
Although my phone has problems too, it changes ringtones/ring styles, turns itself to silent, vibrates for no reason, sets invisible alarms that wake me up at 3 in the morning . . . it sure is a bundle of fun.
I'm getting a Sony Ericsson K750i for Xmas though, hopefully that'll be OK.
I currently have an aversion to: Motorola, Sagem, T-Mobile, and Vodafone.

Ive had enough of Sony Ericcsons for a while. Though i think that phone is the model down from mine. I dont think youll be let down. The camera is great, sound quality is great. I think the only difference between the one your getting and mine is that mine has 'Walkman' printed on it. There might be other differences. When you get it, if you want i got some software so you can make your own themes and use your Phone with your P.C, so for example you can write texts on your P.C but send them via your phone with the supplied cable. Id happily send you them if your intrested.

      Cool, sounds good.
I'll let you know if I'd like it after I've used the phone for a few days.
Thanks for the offer, and the good comments on the phone.

How fast should a phone be ? ?

Theoretically if they could speed it up faster than a train of thought you wouldn't even need to dial cause the other person would already know what it is you were thinking at the time...

no doctor/technician is going to insert any kind of electronic device in me, thats for sure. except a pacemaker if need be. ;)

but even then, pacemakers could have some sort of tracking device in them..... :o you would never know.....

          I do agree, good point.
          Also a very scary one.

Another scary thought . . . I'd never have any sort of implant unless absolutely necessary.

Not sure how to break this to you guys but "implants" are already placed in many things...to "watch" your buying habits, where you go, what you do, Levis is one manufacturer that places them in their jeans...don't go ripping em up...LOL...but there are many other mfgs. doing the same thing...check out the World Wide Web for sites that tell you about this stuff, not sure I can post a site here so I'm not.  I'm just praying they don't put tiny ones in our food and we swallow it without knowing...all I can tell you is I've chipped two teeth in one week...hmmmmm...makes me wonder.  Skip the cell phone for the time being and wait for the one that has the computer in it...coming soon to your local retailer... ;)  And I agree...nobody is putting a chip in me WITH my knowledge.

Interesting site...and you think thats something...did you see the movie "Face Off"? I read an article the other day about a woman who had a partial "face off" and they are planning on doing a full "face off" in the very near future.
