Cannot find cd/dvd

I realized my cd drive wasn't working. I rebooted my computer and got a message that the cd/dvd could not be found. It was working fine just recently.

need to know more information, is this in the BIOS, DOS, or Windows???

Well, it comes up when the computer first starts up if that helps.
