What gaming console should I get?

DVDs are not supported on the wii, as for the music i dont know, but i do know nintendo isnt all for the full entertainment system like PS3, they just want a sweet game console.

OK then.
The GameCube couldn't play DVDs etc either because it used a smaller disk . . . that was one of its major failings as far as I was concerned.
IMHO a DVD player is pretty much essential, especially as all of the competing consoles can play DVDs, CDs, and others.  plus the 360 has HD-DVD and the PS3 has Blu-Ray.

I'll be trying to come up with the money for a Wii, fixing up my PC, and getting a laptop (latitude C600, for those who haven't heard of my post "laptop or desktop?".

one of the Great thingg aout the Wii is all the old Nintendo games will workin on it from the Nes upto the Game cube .

did you know the Wii and the Game cube are the Same hard ware , with a few litte tweeks.

I dont think its that similar. The Wii has much better graphics and a faster CPU, more RAM etc... Here are the Gcube specs:
450MHz powerpc
24MB RAM
16MB graphics
no hard drive
1.4GB discs

Now the Wii:
1800MHz powerpc
128MB RAM (and graphix)
512MB flash drive
8.5GB discs.

Nothing against the Gcube, but the Wii is far better.
