Unable to unhide files.
« on: December 24, 2006, 05:13:49 PM »
Hi,

I have two problems but i dont kno if they are associated.

1) I can't unhide any of my files anywhere. I check the "show hidden files" box yet when i press ok it reverts back to unchecked.

2) I have a website that popups in my internet explorer browser advertising phones and ringtones i think in chinese. The website name is C:\WINDOWS\system32\@#$#.htm which i assume is on my computer somewhere.

I run Windows XP.

Thanks for all help.

Welcome to the forums..

From your post it seems your system may be infected, time to run scans and removal tools.  See here..

This C:\WINDOWS\system32\@#$#.htm tends to show that the file @#$#.htm has been installed on your hard drive C: in the subfolder System32 of the Windows folder.  You will have to delete whatever is calling this file be it in your startup list or in the registry.

What anti-virus program and firewall are you using?

One good deed is worth more than a year of good intentions.
