What can I do to make my internet faster??

I live out in a rural area. I'm 400 feet too far out to get dsl so I'm stuck with dial up. What can I do if anything to make it work faster?? I know I'm short on memory..would adding memory really help the internet thougH?

I have a Compaq with Windows XP. I have a 2.8 Ghz processor with 256 MB ram and only 61 MB free.

 aces67.........  Unfortuneatly , there's not a lot you can do if your on dialup ...... What sort of a connection speed do you get ?  More ram would be better , however it will not make your system download much quicker ....... It will make your machine perform better though.
