ok it is an e-machine. I totaly disconnected and reconntected everything. The monitor comes up with screen says it is working to check my comp. The key board will light for a moment then go off. It is also 512 mb AMD Athlon. I also hooked it up to this monitor and key board Im using now nothing works. I have restoring disk but it flickers like it is on stand by and the A: stays lite also.

It sounds like it overheated from collecting dust and so on
like all of ours do.So it may need an internal cleaning.

If not that, the power supply unit is often times faulty on
E-machines.

Why not post the Model number and Manufacturer.

Like Mine is a Gateway E4200.

Are you knowledgeable enough to open up that beast
and get inside and work with it?

Happy New Year Texas. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Okay unplug your computer. Now hold the power button
in on front of the computer for 30 seconds. Now plug it
back in the wall.Press the power button. What happens?

Sometimes it helps to let it sit unplugged for 30 minutes
or so before you try the above.

Below is the recommended power supply for your computer.
I wouldn't order it yet.Just giving you a link to it for now.

Some of that model had a 3.5 floppy drive, for floppy disks.Did yours?

If you have exhausted all means of booting ,I believe the hard drive frozeup,
or your power supply went bad.If you unplug your hard drive will it boot with the  install disk?

Last time u will hear from me on this,I would like just one more question answered if possible. I have done all that was suggested. You have brought up power supply. Is it possible for it to be that when all my lights come own. It powers up just acts like it is still own stand by. Im going to take it in I was just woundering about all the lights working? Thank u very much for all you time and letting me pick at your mind.
