ed. sftware problems
« on: January 02, 2007, 01:36:45 PM »
hola folks...just bought an older version of a Broderbund/Learning Company program for my son.  It's called Kid Pix Deluxe 3.  I can't get it to work properly and have tried to contact the company, but played the clickthelink runaround (grrrrr).  I get an error when I try to use several important tools in the software.  I have WindowsXP(counterfeited)  and,  in trying to solve this software issue, have discovered that I'm having QuickTime and Windows MediaPlayer problems...I am at a loss.

I know this is vague - does anyone have any help to offer.  Will give more info, when needed.

A pirated version of XP causes all sorts of problems.
I think the best solution would just be to buy a legal version, otherwise we could go round in circles forever and never get anywhere with it.
Sorry.

well...after deleting EVERYthing related to Quicktime and then reinstallling the latest version, my puter still says that i have an unproperly installed version of WMP: that the version # is different than what was expected.

I asked my computer installer dude and he gave me a file that would get rid of the "you have a conterfeit copy" msg and I loaded it and it got rid of the "star" in my sys tray BUT i still have software troubles....QuickTime says that the latest download can't be installed "...i am trying to use itunes and wmp at the same time.  Are they incompatible?

    gosh....

    it makes me craaaazy!

i can use wmp when i am in a window that needs it (like sampling wav.files for amazon.com music files) but i cannot play my music library thru wmp....only thru itunes.

annnnd....i'm wondering if my wmp troubles is the reason why i cannot save files in the software i bought from The Learning Company (Kid Pix Deluxe 3)...it doesn't help that the company does not offer techsupport to this version anymore.

May be, but with counterfeit software we are limited by forum rules.

As mentioned above, a real Windows installation might solve some of your problems, certainly some of them.             ----------- Windows Sheriff

At one time Learning Company software required that the program disk be present or it simply refused to cooperate. Try leaving yours in the drive and run the program normally to see if it makes a difference.
