    restricted or no connection possibilities
    « on: January 02, 2007, 12:40:06 PM »
    Hi there...

A lot of my friends (8 to be exact  :P) had an issue. They could surf hours, if not, days on the internet until they lost connection. Suddenly the connection fell out. That's no real problem, just re-connect. So they went to the list of wifi networks, clicked on the network (they had good, some of them perfect, connection) and clicked on the button connect. But than is where the problem starts. Then it reconnects and you get the error: restricted or no connection possibilities (I translated it litteraly). When you disconnect then, and try to reconnect, then you can't find your wifi network anymore ! or you keep having the same error! Now, I wouldn't be so interesting in this answer to this problem if I haven't had the same problem tody. Just like every1 described to me. It's NO hardware error, because 8 friends have different, recent and good, hardware and one even bought a stronger wifi-reciever and still had the problem

Can some1 tell me how to resolve (I tried to set the wifi to another channel, no succes)

    Greetz

Thats one of those XP "gotcha's". Try rebooting the router.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

Look, even he has the problem too! I'm sure a lot of ppl have this problem and it would be great if we can solve this and make a sticky of it!

        Rebooting the router didn't work.

        (Rob, where are you?  :D)

I have had a problem like this before. Try turning off your router and your modem, then turn on your modem first let it go through and get all the lights lit up and then turn on your router. This fixed the problem for me.

You can solve a lot of problems by using static IP addresses on your wireless LAN.  DHCP is often flaky over wireless.  Make sure the wireless DHCP pool doesn't conflict with any other DHCP pool on your LAN (if you happen to have wired connections as well).

Wireless problems are frequently caused by interference.  Microwave ovens, cordless phones, high-frequency car ignition systems, etc, etc.  If the problem occurs at a certain time of day, or if it coincides with the next door neighbour turning on the vacuum cleaner, or a jet passing overhead, then you may have a clue as to the cause of your problem.  :)
