That's pretty much what I meant, yeah.
The difference between PTB and TB is that PTB leaves no trace on the host machine, check out that site for more about portable apps and the differences.
I don't use Gmail's web interface, it's Google Talk that picks it up and annoys me with popups.

Been using qute a few portable apps for some time now including the Mozilla apps...it's amazing that now when i go to a customer's on service call i have 2 thumb drives on my keychain.

Not so long ago it was an aluminum oversized briefcase that contained all my tools...

Portable apps are awesome.
I mainly use them at school, otherwise I'd be forced to use IE.
They're also pretty useful at school because there are some programs I have which don't have an equivalent on the school system, so I can do things I otherwise wouldn't be able to do.
