Email notification testing
« on: January 07, 2007, 03:14:40 PM »
Testing to see if:

"Check this if you wish to be notified of replies to this topic. "

is working.

Anybody that wishes:   feel free to post something in this thread,  and then kindly post again, as to whether or not you got an email notification when the next post was made.

Have not received an email for this post of yours here, yet.

Corrected...just recieved notification...are you using a webmail based account ? ? That might explain the slowdown/interruptions...

Webmail = yes.    However,  (see above)  email notification of new PM s   arrives within seconds.    Wouldn't that negate your theory?

Fwiw,  up through Jan 5,  my experience was that email notifications for threads like this, also appeared within seconds.

Since then -  zilch  ( for threads like this).

I haven't received any email notifications since the 1/5/07.  For some unknown reason, this feature of the forum seems to occasionally break.

Interesting -  broke for you and me,  but works for patio.
Not sure what, if anything, that means -  but it is interesting.

In your experience, does it just start working again magically?   or do you have to ask someone?
And how long is normal, for it to be out?

Thanks

Yes, in my experience, it does just start working again magically.  I don't recall it being broken for more than 2 or 3 days.  Let's see what happens tomorrow.  When it starts working again, you'll probably get a catch-up batch of notifications all at once.

    Let's see what happens tomorrow.

I clicked on    Contact     up there towards the top left of the page,  and got a form.   Sent a friendly  fyi type   message.     Haven't gotten a response yet.... don't even know to whom it went.

    BwaHaHaHa!

If we had an option to    Show all new posts since last visit   ,   that would be nice.
If it was re-settable or somewhat configureable by us, that would be ideal.

If either of these is here,  then I've pulled a street1 and overlooked 'em.

When you finish reading a sub-forum to your liking click on "mark forum as read at the top right of the page...
The next time you visit each new response will be bumped to the top and you will see "new" next to the thread....
