win xp pro 64bit

can my system install 64bit OS? my system spec is
Intel P4 2.8GHz,
MSI Intel 865PE Neo2 P socket 478 M.Board

RAM=512MB x2  running dual channel.
IDE hard drive 80GB Hitachi, SATA 160GB seagate,
sound blaster audigy 2 ZS,

what's the effect if i install 64bit OS, will it become slow? not stable?
currently i'm using win 2k pro sp4.
