moral of the story...when buying a computer system ALWAYS ask for the OS disk.

it sounds like you might need to attempt to repair your OS, however, as far as i know, you need the genuine OS CD to do this.

What version of WMP do you currently have installed ?
      None
that is very odd. WMP has been included with Microsoft OS's ever since Windows95.

In the early days of having virus problems it was as i thought then that it was wmp that was causing the problems (didn't realise at the time i had virus's)so i uninstalled it thinking i could reinstall it when i got things sorted out

Now the good news i have managed to install wmp10 dont ask how, would you settle for that or try to install wmp11 again?

To see if you have it open My Computer and click Help / About Windows...this will tell you.
SP2 might also not DLoad properly if that laptop isn't passing WGA.

You've encountered error message 8007F00D while using WMP, Additional
information is not currently available for this error.

So unless there is an answer to this it looks like i will have to settle for wmp10
at least the computer is working fine NO virus's(or none that i know of)
Wireless Internet connection is working fine setup OK
so i suppose 2out3three cant be bad.thats unless you guys can come up with the solution?????????

This kinda cracks me up how they approached this one...they went to the trouble to assign it an error message...but they can't tell you more about it ! !

skyblue...... I just had another thought , I wonder if there are any entries in the registry for WMP11 ....... and thats the reason your getting the error messages ?

Do you know how to do a manual search in the registry ?

I had this problem and finally had to take it to a computer guy. He thought he had it removed and tried just reloading Media 10, my computer wouldn't download 10 even. He finally went into the registry and removed the Media 11, then upgraded my XP and everything works fine now
