My comp is dead!
« on: March 08, 2007, 05:08:23 PM »
 >:(     The chassis fan on my comp wasnt workin right but the other two(processor and power supply) were working just fine.  I opened the side panel to the comp and after shutting down the computer, I used a vacuum and removed the dust and other dirt build-up from the board.  I then attempted to re-boot the comp and i got nothing.  I checked the power cord, power supply, and the other connections removed the memory and all and still nothing.  Any ideas?     thanks.

Did you perhaps press the vaccume directly against the computer parts you were cleaning, or get it too close?
What sort of computer is it?
Did you try disconnecting the non-functioning fan and then try starting?

Since the problem now resides (most likely) in a damaged chip, I can only say this:
Next time, try using a can of air. (compressed air)
        But:
Parts may be saved from your computer, eg: CD ROM/DVD drive, Hard drive, floppy, video card, sound card, etc...
