Power Supply
« on: January 31, 2007, 04:33:30 AM »
Ok i am still confused. My power supply says it can put out 250watts max. I was reading about a video card that said under system requirments that it needs a 250watt power supply or greater. Would my system be able to use this video card?

Maybe, maybe not. It depends on what other peripherals you have and the over-all demands for power. If that is a minimum requirement, I would suggest upgrading the PSU.

For some specific numbers, visit http://www.journeysystems.com/power_supply_calculator.php.  You may be OK with your current PSU.  I was using a 250W PSU until only about a month ago with: AMD Athlon XP 2200, 512MB RAM, sound card, GeForce4 Ti4200 AGP video card, 1 hard drive, DVD-ROM drive, and CD-RW drive.  For some time, I also had a PCI video card installed for a second monitor.
