recently had probs with w2000pro ( it freezes on blue loading ur settings screen), went to set up and was told it was c:\winnt\system32\config\systemced or something like that. don't have any start up disc to repair it so i got xp pro and tried to format hdd .start boot up from cd rom and get set up and then it keeps quiting telling me it is shutting down my system for its own protection. error code 0x00000051 ( 0x00000003,0x00000003,0x00000000,0xe1101000) tried a few times to no avail, any help would be gr8 ppl thx. me=dunce!

I don't think you had a Windows 2000 problem. More likely it is an ongoing hardware problem. Let's start with some basics.

Free RAM test download from www.memtest86.com

Free hard drive diagnostics from the appropriate hard drive maker's site.

Post back with your results. Is this a genuine Windows XP CD that says Microsoft all over it?

Not if there's nothing wrong with the one you have. Let's see where the problem is first. ;)

It's a small dowload that will let you create a bootable floppy or CD. You just boot with the disk in there and it will start the test. Let it run for at least 30 minutes.

The ideal way to test is one stick of RAM at a time then all together.

Good luck. We don't help with bootleg software however.
