when i click web pages off ,it turns off my homepa

Windows xp  HP  AMD Athion (tm ) 2600+ 2.08 GHz 448 mb of ram
I down loaded google and now when I try to send Email it closes my email site.
Also if I go into any site when I close that site it use to take me back to my home page now all I have is the bar at the top where I have to click on web to get back on my web page.
I know nothing about puters so I will need someone to tell me what to do very easy  thanks

I stay away from toolbars myself...most of them are garbage anyways.
