DVD ROM drive problem
« on: February 02, 2007, 01:19:57 PM »
Hi. I have a dvd rw TEAC W516G-A95 drive and recently it started not to read dvds and cds. When i insert any media, it takes some time for it to read them, and after that TEAC behaves like there's no media inside. When i try to access, it says "please insert disk into driv e", like there's no media. I tryed to clean it with lens cleaner, but it didn't work. Can anyone help?

Usually the optics go long before the mechanics, that is the tray will open and close, but you get the symptoms you have. There is a reason these have only a 90 day to 1 year warranty. Luckily a new DVD burner can be had for less than $40 delivered.
