Unable to disable popup blocker sound
« on: February 04, 2007, 07:58:25 PM »
I've unchecked the box in the internet explorer popup blocker settings (IE 6.0), and disabled the popup blocker sound in my google toolbar as well.  But the sound keeps playing when popups appear (even if I cant disable all popups, i'd like to disable all popup sounds).  Please Help.  Thanks!

Computer info:
IE 6.0
SP2 installed
Microsoft Windows XP
Version 2002

Well, my first suggestion would be getting rid of the Google toolbar, but to each his own...

As for disabling the sound, give this a try...

Open up your Control Panel (Start > Settings > Control Panel) and open Sounds And Media Devices.  Then click on the Sounds tab.  Under the Program Events section, scroll down to Windows Explorer.  Right under that should be Blocked Pop-up Window.  Click on it once.  Under sounds, it'll say something like Windows XP Pop-up Blocked.  Click on the drop down menu, go all the way to the top and select (None).  Click OK.  You shouldn't have to restart your browser, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt.

Now, hopefully[/b] that'll take care of it for you.
