Mouse malfunctions during OS reinstallation

I formatted the hard drive on an older--but still functioning-- computer.  During the reinstallation of the OS, my mouse suddenlly ceases to function.  Any advice on how to resolve this issue? and yes, it's plugged in and was functioning prior to the format.

is this a bog standard mouse ps2...if not install the drivers that came with the mouse you have...by re-formating your drive...you may have taken out the mouse drivers.
