Dilbert, I think it may be worth mentioning that step one applies to OpenOffice installed on hard drive but not to a flash drive or external hard drive installation. Based on my use of it on the U3 flash drive, that step does not apply to installation on a U3 flash drive.  I believe the same is true for an installation from PortableApps.com on a flash drive or external hard drive.

As far as I know, the other steps are applicable to a flash drive or external hard drive installation.

Everything is applicable to a PortableApps.com installation bar the QuickStarter.
      Nice guide.

Calum, as nearly as I can tell, after a little searching, the purpose of Quickstarter is to "Load OpenOffice.org During System Start-Up".  How would that apply to the PortableApps version?

That's what I'm saying, disabling the Quickstarter is the only thing that doesn't apply to the portable version.
I was just confirming it after you said it didn't apply to a U3 version, and that the other things are the same.
The Quickstarter can still be used though, it just won't load during startup because it's on a flash drive.

Where I come from, bar means except from, barring.
So everything is applicable, barring the Quickstarter, or except the Quickstarter.
So yes, that's what I meant, sorry for any confusion caused by my choice of words.

Ah, yes <LOL>, I should have recognized the way in which you used it.  I'm not in the habit of using bar in that sense.  It is, indeed, a busy word.  http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/bar lists 57 results for it, including the meaning for which you used it.
