please help me

My computer won't allow me to open a file as it tell me the system is not suitable for running MS-Dos and Mircosoft windows applications. then it tells me to close.
I have been working on this file every week for the past two years and this is the first time i have a problem.

If you can, run an antivirus program with recent update.

If you cannot boot to your current OS, get a Knoppix LiveCD OS to boot to, and save out your data files to CDR... Then try a repair install of your Windows OS, and try to update and run your antivirus. If it still fails, wipe the HD out and do a full re-install.
