Incorrect Windows CD.
« on: February 16, 2007, 01:01:27 AM »
I just tried running sfc /scannow, but I apparently don't have the right CD.  It asked me to insert Windows XP Pro CD2, so I inserted my Gateway [GM5094E] Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 OS Disc, which is the only CD that came with my computer (aside from the one with my monitor drivers).  But it's telling me that I'm not inserting the correct CD.  So...am I going to have to contact Microsoft about getting the CD I need?  If so, I'm assuming that probably wouldn't be free; I doubt they're too keen on handing out OS CD's to random people who ask for them.  Are there any alternatives?  This isn't imperative to me right now (I was simply running scannow for the heck of it), but it could be in the future.

When you buy a PC with Windows installed the manufacturer is responsible for OS support. Contact Gateway.
