A buddies pc wont boot.
« on: March 04, 2007, 11:39:48 AM »
Hey guys a friend of mine has a semi old pc.  Just recently he came to the large problem of it not booting at all.  He told me that he check the power supply and said it did the same thing with a different power supply.  What do you guys think this could be a dead motherboard?  I checked to see if the ram sticks were loose they were snug however.  Now you would still get a boot even if the hard drive was fried right...well at least to the BIOS screen but he isn't even getting to the BIOS screen.  Any ideas guys?

    could be a dead motherboard?    <<  "probably"  but;

    is the inside of the case - caked in dust and soot ?  Was the system bogging down and or running real slow before this all happened ?

    Some details would be required to prevent a lot of random guessing. Maybe your buddy could post them?
