I have an Epson C88 printer, not used very much, one year old. It has started to print web pages with a solid, dark gray area behind the print area. these blocks are precisely 1 inch high, the left edge and right edge are controlled by the leftmost and rightmost charter being printed in that particular block. Graphics and headings elements are handled in their own individual blocks and do overlap as necessary to put the included element in the proper place on the page.
I've never seen this before in 30 years of working with these things and if you haven't seen this condition you may not comprehend my attempt to describe it. My hope is that someone has seen this condition before and has a clue about it.
