Case Cooling Questions
« on: March 26, 2007, 12:24:42 PM »
Hey-

I've been looking at some ways of installing extra 120mm/80mm fans into the the new system I'm building. I wanted to know how you can mount extra fans onto cases or inside cases. Thanks for the help once again  :D

If you have the case in mind that you have or gonna buy, post a pic here and we can tell or help you where extra's might work / fit*.

It's not very difficult at all,  though added noise level could be a factor to consider.
You also want to make sure your power supply has enough connectors.

Firstly,  what type cpu are you planning on running, will you have numerous hard drives setup inside ?

Couple reviews stated pretty decent air-flow , might consider waiting to get everything up and going and monitoring your temps inside to see if the temps warrant modifying the case.  I have done a little to (2) cases and unless your a pro-  it kinda takes away from the case unless your real good.  (with that in mind and I'm guessing theres a 120mm upfront on the bottom sucking in)

* you could - add an  80mm on top more towards the front of the case and also , depending on your hard drive reply, take out the bottom internal 3.5 (x3) bay and  remove it.*[ looking into your case from the window door]  place a  80mm  all the way in the back on the right about  1 1/2 inches from the front of the case as an additional intake fan.  You can get fan dampers & grills at newegg  real cheap if you choose to go this way. Its very easy to do this and real easy to make your case look like crap too.  *I* would get it all running and think about it awhile before getting the power tools out!   ;)

CPU: P4 3.2 Ghz
As for the HDDs Right now I plan to master a 70 gig I have and then slave a 60 gig to it.

I'll deff wait to see how hott it runs, thanks for the input so far man.

If you decide on 120mm fans, you might want to look into 80-120 adapters. Could save having to mod the case.
