Karma???
« on: March 28, 2007, 02:59:43 AM »
I noticed that there is now writing off to the side of when we post.  It says Karma and then has a little zero or some people have a higher number, what does it mean.  I know what karma means but how is it related to this site???

Nope. If you applaud someone, because of sth. (activity, solution etc) then one karma is added to her/his account. Smite vice versa. You hit applaud or smite under the name.

Ohhhh ok lol I think I get it now.  So if you click on the applaude button then that person gets 1 karma point, and if you click on the smite button then that person gets 1 karma point taken away???

As of right now, it doesn't really do much.  But when new users come by looking for answers, they might be more comforted to get help from someone with higher karma.  And I'm sure there might be some sort of reward system implemented down the line.  But don't quote me on that one.

Can a Karma count be negative, as in really bad karma?   ;D

The mods have all patted each other on the back. Nobody else seems to give a *censored*.

I'm pretty sure a point or two of my karma was given by a newbie, here. Maybe... you're right about us patting each other's backs. Nathan's especially, he hid double-digits last night when I was at 3. :)
