Router and Modem Problem
« on: April 01, 2007, 02:22:00 PM »
I've been trying to hook up my linksys router now for over an hour.  When the cable modem is hooked up directly to the computer I have connection.  Then when I hook the router up from the modem and then take another ehternet cable and hook up the origional PC, something is not working.  My laptop and the PC do not pick up internet.  On my laptop it says that i have full signal but it will not connect to the internet.  Why is this problem happening?

Have you set the networking properties so that the router is the dhcp server and gatway?
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

Go into the properties of the Networking and Dial-up connections and double-click on the Internet Protocol TCP/IP and make sure it is set to "Obtain an IP address automatically".

Do you have the router manual?
What type of router (what model of Linksys) do you have?
You have to set up the router accordingly. After that... Life will be beautiful again :)
