Changing drive letters + programs
« on: April 01, 2007, 09:04:47 AM »
Dear users:
When I installed a new disk, my system disk was changed to "F" and has stayed as such for some time.
I've installed multiple new programs and the default instalation folder has been F as it's recognized as the system folder.
The thing is, that I want to RENAME the "F"folder to the standard "C" but doing so I want all my installed programs to work with the new drive assignment.
Can it be done and how?

Is this a second hard drive?  Merely installing another hard drive is not going to change your system disk.  Did you reinstall Windows after you installed the new/second hard drive?

How many hard drives are installed?  How many partitions do you have on them?

Dear sir:
Thank you for your reply.
Yes I have 2 hard drives and each one has only one partition.
As you suspected, the re-assignment of the drive letters was done when I re-installed windows and now my boot disk is F ( on one drive) than I have another HD which I use to save only data.
Please refer to my original question with this info.

Thank you

Arturo

This would be an extremely long and tedious process and even then you might find some apps not working at all...

A Clean install would be the best route to take.

Make sure to backup all important data before proceeding...
