    Can anyone tell me if open office has a word count in it's programme and if it does where is the icon for it?

    In OpenOffice.org Writer (the word processing program) go to Tools --> Word Count.

      Calum,
      I cant see (writer) but (text document) is what i've been using.
      There is no word count in tools. This a 2 year old programme. Is there a later version?

      Sorry buxton bob, didn't consider that you'd be using an older version.
      While you're downloading the newest version from openoffice.org, why not check out these great tips to speed up OpenOffice?

        Oops broken link, fixed it.
        Sorry about that, it was supposed to say what it says now, tips to speed up OpenOffice, not just end with check out, looking like I'm directing you to my site (although you can go there if you like, you'd be very welcome).
