Taking ownership of a file
« on: April 12, 2007, 10:07:08 AM »
I'm still having problems accessing a folder called "documents", access is denied, despite the fact that i am the only user on this computer and have administrator capabilites. I 've looked on the microsoft website and it seems taking ownership of the file may work.

There are directions on how to do this on the following link:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308421

However i can't follow these as when i open folder properties there is no security tab, or any other way of accessing ownership as far as i can see.

Any ideas?

Did you remember to do this in safemode as is recommended ? ?

To enter safemode you need to tap the F8 key repeatedly as the machine is powering up...

Are you using XP Home or Pro ? ?

The only thing i can think of if it's XP Pro there might be encryption on that folder which if you don't remember the password you are in trouble...

I personally don't trust programs that plave inaccessible files/folders on my machine...

Is 4od for the TV service in the U.K. ? ?

Their site has a troubleshooting and FAQ page that may be of some help...
