No as a matter of fact I dont  have the CD for installing XP pro... Though I have one for XP home, could it be used for fixing my problems ? ??? But GX1_Man, I can still access the files on my Maxtor 120 GB hard drives and it's crucial that I can access them, so i sorta need vista for the moment... If I unplug the drive, I will not be able to boot the computer at all, since when i start XP, after the logon screen, it loops back to the POST .

No, home and pro are different so you are SOL. If you cannot disconnect the Vista drive long enough to solve this you may have put yourself in an impasse.

Be prepared to do a repair install of Vista as well...reason being is that even though Vista resides on another drive when it was installed Windows still puts certain system files into the root folder of C:\

So after you fornat the XP drive those files will no longer be there and Vista will have trouble starting.

If this were my system i would backup everything and wipe both drives and do a clean install of everything.

That's what I was about to do patio. Simpler, cleaner and it'll be minty fresh.

Hey I finally got THE error message from my computer that helped me.

I had put the WinXP home disc in even though I have XP pro and it gave me a message :

" winlogon.exe ... File is absent or corrupted."

So i've put my BartPE disc in and extracted the winlogon.exe file in my c:\windows\system32 directory. Works fine, but the Network Cards don't work anymore. I have posted the problem on the Hardware section, so if anyone knows anything about my new problem, please HELP ME !  :-[

Try re-installing the network drivers....is this onboard or an add on card ? ?

Well , i have a XBOX connected through a Acer 201 NIC, and I use onboard intel LAN for connecting on my router. I reinstalled all of the drivers. Still doesnt work. I have unplugged the computer from the network and disabled Symantec AV corporate edition and it still showed an error.

I did a printscreen of the thing, here it is.

If you need a translation, here it is :

==========================
IP CONFIGURATION OF WINDOWS

An internal error as occured : This command could not be accepted (term with the closest meaning I could find). Contact Microsoft's tech support for help.

Supplemental information : Could not acquire host's name.

Sounds like the winlogon file is not the correct one for your version...have you checked for a DLoad of that ? ?

Well, I think it was untouched by the corruption, but its still the one i always used ??? but I'll try downloading and updating it on my comp. Maybe Vista messed with it ? :o
