Zone Alarm
« on: April 17, 2007, 03:27:55 AM »
Does anyone have ZoneAlarm installed on their computer (the newest update)? I had it on mine, and my internet kept stuffing up. But as soon as I shut it down, the internet went back to normal. Did anyone else have this problem?

Haven't used ZoneAlarm for ages ever since they released an update that caused some Windows 98 machines to stop from shutting down...

It's still got bugs, it seems. It stops my internet.

Anyway, I didn't hear about ZoneAlarm until I found it installed on my 2nd hand PC. It sucks, really.

Yes, they did something to it to make it horrible.  :(

If you want to use ZoneAlarm, 6.1.744 was the last stable version.  Everything since then has been buggy and problematic.

I did use ZoneAlarm for a while and had no problems.
I then was persuaded to switch to Sygate, which I thoroughly recommend.
Honestly, you don't realise how buggy and invasive and bloated ZA is until you try something else.

Sygate is too outdated and therefore unreliable in my book..

Right now, I'm not bothering with a firewall until I find a good one. And ZoneAlarm didn't really do anything for me, except tell me that I'm logging onto MSN...

ZoneAlarm is useless, in my opinion

You're not bothering with a firewall until you find a good one? By then it'll be too late.. lol..

Windows XP firewall + hardware firewall, good enough for the average user.

I'll take my chances, and then see how long until my computer crashes.... lol.

What's a good free firewall then?

Windows XP Firewall.

There are no free hardware firewalls, ofcourse.
