simon123 ......... Welcome to Computer Hope........... Usually when someone goes to the trouble of creating a topic, they include the issue which has resulted in the topic being created.   In your case there isn't one .......
Perhaps you might wish to edit your post to include that information .

If you don't know the answer, it isn't a dumb question.

Hi, that's strange, I even previewed the question ....

The question is, In MS word, is it possible (in a multipage document) to change the date on page one and have the rest update with it?

This info only get's updated once a year and is viewed many times.

    Thanks for any help

    regards

If you put the date in a header, it will be the same on every page, and when you alter it for page 1 the rest will follow suit

Thanks for that but the date is not at the top or bottom of the document but midway. Can it still be done?

I think you need to replace each occurence of the date in question by a 'date field'.

You can insert the date as a field that will update automatically every time you open the document. This can be particularly helpful when used in conjunction with templates or mail merge documents, as you never have to worry that the date is incorrect or spend time entering the date.

To insert a date field in your document, follow these steps:

    1. Postion the cursor where you would like to place the field
    2. From the Insert menu, select Field…
    3. In the Field dialog box, select Date in the Field names: scroll box
    4. In the Date formats: box, select the date format that best suits the context of your document
    5. Click OK

The date field will be inserted in your document in the format you selected. Each time you open the document or use the F9 key to update fields, the date will be updated.
