shutdown prolbem

on my laptop after about 2 hours running if i try to shut it down from the start menu it crashes
if i shut it down from ctrl alt del it shuts down fine anyone else have this prolbem ???

its not a big deal i just use the ctrl alt del but some times i forgit and it crashes

    when did this start? what OS do you have?? have you made any changes? hardware software

    i have win xp sp2 it has done this for a while i just reformatted and it still does it i recently added 1gb ram
    but it crashed like that before the ram upgrade its like the icon window of the shutdown ,restart , standbuy window crashes i usualy dont even get to that window

          Do you have Easy CD Creator installed on that machine ? ?

          Or are you running any eye candy programs such as window blinds ? ?

          We're going to have to know the temperatures at the time of the shut down.
