my comp only has 256  of ram on it , can i add more to it does any one know please.

Yes, most probably.
Go to http://www.crucial.com and use their free memory advisor tool.
This will tell you what kind of memory you need and how much you can get.
You can then either buy the memory from them or from another retailer.

More RAM will make a big difference if you only have 256Mb now.
