I want to scan some pictures of mine onto the computer but I hate doing it because they always come out looking kinda funny because of the white boarder.  Is there anything that I can do to get rid of the white boarder easily?

I suspect the solution lies in settings in your scanner software.  So, what software are you using?  Also, what make and model scanner do you have?

When you view the photos after scanning, what software are you using to view them with, that shows the white border?  Can you view these photos with software, even Paint?  Does the white border appear the same in other software?

Most scanning programs will allow you to preview your scan first.  Give this a try and see if it will let you select the scanning area, which will allow you to scan only the picture and not the empty white space.  If it doesn't have this feature, then you need to look for the cropping tool.

Also, a "boarder" is a person who lives in your house and pays rent to your mom. A "border" is an edge around something like a picture.

I thought a "boarder" was someone who likes surfing.... :D

The easist solution would be to save the scans as is and then use an image editing program such as Irfanview to crop them as needed...
